With the support of company Technology 2000, PHOTOMOD Radar training course was successfully conducted by
the specialists of Ural Federal University Space Center.
Victor Kobernichenko is the Scientific Director of the Center and well-known specialist
in radargrammetry. Algorithms and methods developed under his leading became a basis for SAR data processing technology of soviet Almaz-1 spaceborne radar.
Representatives of Geographic Department of Saint Petersburg State University and Surveyor Department of National University of Mines were first attendees of the course. The most
interesting topic was interferometric processing for DEM generation and surface shift estimation using of phase information extracted from complex spaceborne SAR data.
Racurs, Technology 2000 and Ural Federal University Space Center agreed to develop mutually beneficial cooperation on terms of which PHOTOMOD Radar training courses will
be conducted on a regular basis.
The PHOTOMOD Radar software is intended for full-scale processing of Earth remote sensing data acquired by spaceborne radars with synthesized antenna aperture (SAR)
such as ERS-1/2, Radarsat, SIR-C/X, ENVISAT ASAR, TerraSAR-X, ALOS, COSMO-SkyMed and generation of so called "secondary information products" from SAR images, such as
digital elevation models. The fact that SAR is the active sensor makes possible reception of required measurements independently of time, day and weather conditions.
